Author Exclusive Interview: Kristin Mulligan
Indie Author of thrillers and romantic suspense; how setting goals and deadlines helps her stay on track and why she writes the books she wants to read
Meet Kristin!
What genre do you write in?
I actually write across multiple genres. My first book was a romantic suspense, then I tried my hand at romantic comedy, and now I’m deep into thrillers. I just can’t seem to stick to one lane. It’s almost like a fun challenge to see what my brain can come up with next.
What inspired you to become a writer?
I’ve always had a pretty wild imagination, and these intense, all-consuming stories would just live in my head until I had to get them out. Even as a kid, I’d come up with weird little ideas—some of them a bit complicated for a ten-year-old—and it just never stopped. Writing feels like something I have to do. If I don’t, it’s like this nagging chore that’s hanging over me, waiting to be finished.
Did you always know you wanted to be an author?
Oh, absolutely. When I was little, I’d write these little stories and staple the printed papers onto cardboard like I was making it a real book. Even if the stories themselves were absolute garbage with the worst spelling and punctuation mistakes, I think the passion to write was definitely there at an early age.
What is your latest book about?
It’s a thriller novella called A Christmas To Die For. It’s technically the second book in my Holidays & Homicides series, but you don’t need to read the first one (I’ll Be Alone For Christmas) to follow along. It definitely adds some depth if you do decide to pick that up first. ACTDF follows three friends who return to an infamous cabin, where people were murdered, to see what they can unearth for their podcast. As you can imagine, things don’t go well and secrets unravel.
