February Reflections
February was a month where I truly felt unrushed. I read (a lot), wrote (some…not as much as I would’ve liked), and spent a lot of time with my family (which trumps everything.)
We got a puzzle table and for the first time in years, we completed a puzzle. It was simultaneously frustrating and relaxing, which lead me to discover that doing a puzzle is a complete oxymoron. But it was fun to have the freedom to leave it then return to it whenever we wanted to - there was no pressure to get it done.
February blessed us with a lot of great memories made, from mommy/daughter dates to mommy/son dates to mommy/daddy dates to family days. Even Chloe got a date with the groomer and a super cute bandana.
Thank you, February.
March, I pray you’re even better.

What I’m Reading
Books I have read in February:
Jenny Cooper Has a Secret by Joy Fielding
Jenny Cooper Has a Secret is advertised as a thriller. I would not say that it is a thriller but it is a really fun book so if you’re looking for a fun and easy read, I highly recommend.
Tilt started out strong but, by the end, I had more questions than answers. So many plot points were left open. Maybe she’s writing a sequel? Or maybe we’re just left with speculation. The premise is intriguing but I left a little disappointed.
All Adults Here by Emma Straub
I enjoyed the writing but it lacked a bit of intrigue and excitement. However, as a mother, I can appreciate this book and how it portrayed loving your children in the way they need to be loved in childhood and adulthood, because each child is different and needs different things.
The Happiest Man on Earth by Eddie Jaku
This memoir is heartbreaking and life changing. Even though Eddie lived through one of the most horrific time periods in our history, he chose to live a life full of happiness when he easily could have lived his life wallowing in misery. Everyone should read this book—I found it to be extremely inspiring. If everyone read Eddie’s words perhaps our world would be a much kinder place.

Four books in a month is a great reading month for me because it usually takes me a while to get through one book. I’m hoping March will be another great reading month!

What I’m Working On
I have been stuck (for what feels like forever) on my current work-in-progress. So much so that it has been intimidating to sit down and write. I’d find everything else to do but write. This past Friday I forced myself to sit at a green cafe table in Barnes and Noble and write something. Anything. And in that time, I wrote over 500 words. I got excited about my book again.
It’s strange - I know exactly what I want to write but for some reason, I’m having a hard time finding the right words to lay down. Have you ever felt this way about a project you’re working on?
And I’m always working on my online bookshop, the Cozy Couch Book Boutique and my new YouTube channel, Kat’s Bookish Obsession. The latest video: 5 Beautiful Books to Read.
“May you always have lots of love to share, lots of good health to spare, and lots of good friends who care.” - Eddie Jaku, The Happiest Man on Earth
I hope you all have a beautiful and productive month ahead!
